Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Between cups of Darjeeling and two scones slathered with cream she made opening entries in the notebook, prefacing her entire endeavor and then detailing the day’s work so far. That she now had a kind of uniform and a set of tools made everything that much easier and much less about her particular feelings, for tasks requiring clothes and accoutrements were by definition objective, even scientific, in nature.
pg. 6 of The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters by Gordon Dahlquist.
PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your 2 ‘teasers’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks!
Oh, I like that one…I can visualize the character performing the tasks and even thinking about how to proceed next…
Here’s mine:

Dahlquist has an interesting style. I quite like it!
Sounds like she is getting prepared for a big task!
My teaser is here
Just stalking her ex-fiancé and seeing what he’s up to. 🙂
What doesn’t go better with tea and scones?
Very true, very true.
Now that is a theory – a uniform equals a purpose? Hmm? I’ll have to think about that but it sounds rather like the philosophy in the series I am currently reading. My teaser is from Brothers in Arms by Lois McMaster Bujold. Happy reading!
Well, it does- a soldier defends, a scientist experiments… clothes quite literally make the men when it comes to occupational uniforms. Thanks for dropping by!
Mmmmm….scones! Great teaser!
HERE is my Teaser Tuesday, from The Miracles of Prato by Laurie Albanese and Laura Morowitz.
Thanks for popping by!
Fabulous teaser! Love it. Thanks for visiting mine!
Oh, absolutely, Alayne. 🙂 Thank you for visiting mine as well!
I love the whole setup described in the teaser. It does seem, for some occupations at least, that putting on a “uniform” of some sort does get a person into the mode of that occupation. Really enjoyable teaser.
My own is in quite a different vein, at Bookishgal.
Thank you! I was debating between this and something else, but I thought this was much more fun. Thanks for dropping by!
Maybe I’m hungry but scones and cream sound wonderful right now. Good teaser too.
I’m hungry as well, don’t worry. Thank you!
What a great passage! I love the sterility of the “objective,” “scientific” endeavor (stalking the ex, you say?) contrasted with the delicious civility of tea and scones. I might have to add this book to the pile!
My teaser, from Pride and Prejudice, is more along the “tea and scones” vein. Check it out if you have a minute:

I’m enjoying it so far, but I’m not too far in! Thanks for dropping by!
What beautiful writing – great passage to share!
