Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
“Well,” said Charlotte, “I wish Jane success with all my heart; and if she were married to him to-morrow, I should think she had as good a chance of happiness as if she were to be studying his character for a twelvemonth. Happiness in marriage is entirely a matter of chance.”
pg. 17 of Pride and Prejudice
PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your 2 ‘teasers’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks!
Ahhh.. good old pride and prejudice..how can you NOT like a teaser from it.
Here is my teaser http://limpetsandpenguins.blogspot.com/2010/03/teaser-tuesday-300310.html
This is actually my first time reading it! Thanks for dropping by.
One of my all-time favorite books!
I’m really enjoying it so far!
This was the first Jane Austen I ever read, and remains my favorite to this day. 🙂 Hope you’re enjoying it!
My teaser for this week is here!
This is actually my second- I read Emma for my high school book club a few years ago, and I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would.
You’re making me wish there was a Jane Austen novel I hadn’t re-read recently! I like to leave a few years between visits to a particular book … although … maybe it is time I read Emma again….
Emma was my first Austen, and I didn’t enjoy it as much as I wanted to- but I’m thoroughly enjoying Pride and Prejudice.
Wonderful teaser! 🙂
Thanks for dropping by!
I can understand about Emma. I remember not liking it at all, the first time I read it, yet I loved Pride and Prejudice. Emma herself is slightly less likable than Elizabeth, for starters. Rather more self-centred and more of a busybody. Yet on re-reading a few years later, I really liked the book. So I think some of your reaction depends on your mood, or how you relate to Emma herself at any given time. But I think nothing ever really compares to Pride and Prejudice. 🙂
Anyway, great teaser! My own teaser is at Bookishgal.
I do quite like Austen’s heroines, but Emma was just so… slow. I’m really enjoying Pride and Prejudice at the moment, though!
Enjoy Pride and Prejudice! Strangely enough, considering what you’ve said in the comments, Pride and Prejudice and Emma are my favorites of the Austen novels. But often Emma is not liked as much because of the character herself.
Oh, one of my favorites. Ah, memories…
I hope you enjoy it!
