Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
For half a century the chapel had stood with a roof beam and naked struts, the old cladding and tiles having been swept away in an arrogant gale. When the January tramontana blustered in, the geese sometimes sheltered there from the wind, though they seldom took communion.
pg. 6 of Mirror Mirror by Gregory Maguire
PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your 2 ‘teasers’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks!
I haven’t read any of Maguire’s books but everyone seems to like him. Good teaser!
Wicked was just absolutely fabulous- I really hope this holds up!
Nice teaser! I’ve read Wicked but haven’t gotten around to this one yet — sounds great!
I’ve been enjoying it, but Wicked is still the best thing he’s done.
This sounds like great writing. Not familiar with this author, thanks for the teaser. Mine is here
His wordplay is absolutely wonderful, I have to say- Wicked is his best work.
Great teaser, I didn’t love this one as much as the Wicked books, but his fairytale re-tellings are always so much fun. My teaser is at The Crowded Leaf.
Yeah, I think everything sort of pales in comparison to Wicked.
Beautiful prose and enough hint of intrigue to make me want to add this book to my THB list. Excellent teaser. Mine is here: http://www.rundpinne.com/2010/01/teaser-tuesdays-highlanders-destiny.html
Gregory Maguire is definitely worth a read!
This is a lovely descriptive passage. Thanks!
I’m very glad you liked it!
I’ve given you an award over at The Crowded Leaf.
Thank you so much, Alayne! You’re too kind.
