It’s Thanksgiving here in the U.S. of A. so …
What authors and books are you most thankful for?

I’m at home, with my family and my dog. I’m feeling a little mushy, hence my answer: all of them.

I’m thankful for that moment when an aspiring writer becomes a writer; when they look at themselves and realize, I can do this. When they kick self-doubt in the teeth and just start writing. Okay, yeah, I’m a little more thankful for the good writers than the bad writers, but the difference between being a writer and an aspiring one is actually quite thin (there’s no qualifications to be a writer, unlike being, say, a doctor)–but it can difficult for people to cross. So, this Thanksgiving, I am bookishly thankful for the moment, however inspired, when someone who has been kicking around an idea decides that it’s time to set it free.
