Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
That attraction to the scar embarrassed Shoka, who found himself both rude and careless; and by that, discovered himself snared in an attention to the whole face that he did not generally pay to his few visitors.
“I want justice,” the boy said; and snared him twice over.
pgs. 5-6 of The Paladin by C. J. Cherryh.
PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your 2 ‘teasers’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks!
Nice one. I’ve heard of this book but I can’t wait to see what you think of it.
It’s good so far, but I’m a bit perturbed by my cover, which is full of white people, when this book obviously takes place in a China analogue.
Interesting teaser, I want to know what the book is about. Thanks for visiting The Crowded Leaf.
It’s historical fantasy about a girl seeking revenge for the massacre of her village by seeking the tutelage of a hermit warrior. Thanks for popping by!
Hmmm…that book sounds interesting!
My TEASER TUESDAY is from my current read of The Countess and the King by Susan Holloway Scott.
I’m looking forward to finishing it!
Wow, I remember getting Paladin for Christmas when I was 14 (I was a big fan of Downbelow Station and Cyteen. I must of read it three times over Christmas break! Think I still have that copy somewhere and, yes, my cover was weirdly inappropriate too — face of a pretty white girl with “attractive” scar and too much dark lipstick holding an “Asian-y” looking sword.
It was a pretty good story, though.
My teaser is from Jen Lancaster’s funny Such a Pretty Fat: One Narcissist’s Quest to Discover If Her Life Makes Her Ass Look Big; Or, Why Pie Is Not the Answer.
I know which cover you’re talking about- I’ve seen it. It’s so odd!
Compelling teaser. I hope that you enjoy your book. Here’s my Tuesday Teaser
Thanks for dropping by!
