Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
I wondered how King Cophetua’s beggar-maid had felt when the palace gates had first opened for her. But there was little resemblance between us; she had a king in love with her, because of her innate nobility, and a beauty that sparkled even through her rags.
pg. 106 of Beauty by Robin McKinley.
PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your 2 ‘teasers’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks!
Good teaser. Sounds like an interesting read too.
It has been, but not quite in the way I’d hoped. Still, thanks for dropping by!
I loved this book . . .
Kaye—the road goes ever ever on
Then you might want to avoid my upcoming review- it just wasn’t my cuppa. 🙂
Ooh sounds like some good historical fiction. Thanks for visiting!
Ooh just saw that you didn’t like it! That’s too bad, but I love reading reviews on books people didn’t like, so I’ll check back to see what you though. 🙂
Aw, thanks! I think I have some quite valid points. That should be up next Friday.
Aw, I’m sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy it! I liked Beauty a lot, but more in a I’m-having-fun-here sort of way than in a this-book-means-a-lot-to-me one.
Thanks for dropping by!
I love Beauty! But since it wasn’t your cup of tea, maybe Rose Daughter will be? (It wasn’t mine, but I think I appreciate it more I get older. . .)
Also, have you read the Damar books? In my opinion, those were Robin McKinley’s best!
I plan to work my way through her bibliography- those sound quite interesting!
