Teaser Tuesday: The Fellowship of the Ring

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Merry left them a long while in the hall, and they had time to discover their parting gift of spoons. It did not improve their tempers.

pg. 39 of The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your 2 ‘teasers’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks!

  1. Yeah, LOTR! I got my book out but haven’t started it yet. Since the weather is calling for more snow and I have a second snow day, maybe today is the day!

  2. Ahhh, I miss these tales. Thanks for kindling a fire under me!

Here’s mine, opening chapter of The Legend of Wolfboy- published anonymously by author in contract dispute w/ previous publisher. It begins publishing as it’s written this week. http://LegendOfWolfboy.com/Reviewers can contact the site for a review copy before it’s public.
    —————————————

Dusk was deepening toward another dark summer night and the chilly mountain air felt like frigid fingers running down their spines.

A near-full moon began to peak through the majestic mountain pines that dominate the western slope of the California Sierra Nevada mountain range, adding to what was already an eerie atmosphere.

“It was seven years ago today,” Ryan growled, his voice breaking the silence on this starless night, June 13, 1995. “The car radio said severe thunderstorms were threatening to hit the Sierras, but the Jacksons were set on going on their annual family vacation to Shaver Creek.”

  3. Gotta love Merry! When I first read LOTR in middle school, my best friend and I used to pretend we were Pippin and Merry. Good times. 🙂

My Teaser Tuesday entry is over at bookwanderer!
